rose nearly 4% in Frankfurt after it reported an 81% surge in quarterly profit, and lifted its fiscal-year sales and earnings outlook.
Alan Davis, an analyst at D.A. Davidson & Co, said the software giant's revenue was boosted by strong PC unit growth, more aggressive Vista revenue recognition, and the company's anti-piracy efforts.

in postmenopausal women. Amgen also reported a flat quarterly profit.
Asian stocks rallied on Friday, with the Nikkei 225 jumping 4.1% in Tokyo and the Hang Seng up 6.7% in Hong.
European markets saw more modest advances, with the French CAC 40 up 0.4%.
Gold futures climbed, up $13.10 to $918.90 an ounce. The dollar also rose against both the euro and the yen. End of Story
